Mocafico: Medusa

August 28, 2009 in Nature

Magnificently staged jellyfish species by Italian photographer Guido Mocafico. Each of the creatures appears like a universe of complexity in zero-g.
With their clarity and documentary preciseness, the photographs remind of the minutious drawings of fin-de-siècle biologist and artist Ernst Haeckel, who discovered, described and drew hundreds of jellyfish, radiolarias, sponges and other species.

Read more about Mocafico in our previous post featuring his Fumées series of volcanic dust clouds.

absolutely beautiful – look celestial & alien; more mineral than animal and still entirely peaceful.
