Alpine / Untitled Painting
For many of his works, Gerhard Richter (born 1932 in Dresden) projected photographs onto the canvas and exaggerated photographic characteristics like motion blur, fuzziness or yellowed greys. In the series Alpine the images are flattened to a few shades of grey without any gradients, creating an intense contrast between the detailed surface parts and the flat, two-dimensional areas.
Inspired by Richter, Thomas Traum has created Untitled Painting, a landscape painting automator that runs in the browser. Fly to your destination of choice and click on the image to let the paint float over the landscape.
