Mapping Sketches

August 5, 2009 in Studies
We´re currently working on a data-based identity design for a film festival – just uploaded the first sketches to flickr!

The graphics visualise all submitted works with their duration, production budget, country of origin, etc. and content-related parameters like political, entertaining, local/global topic, etc. Backed by the speedy H2 database, we built a custom application to explore the dataset and find interesting constellations of parameters and perspective.

Octree2
The white boxes in the pictures are just debug information, showing the underlying Octree data structure, which is used to optimise all distance calculation in the scene. The original code from Karsten Schmidt´s excellent toxiclibs was ported to Scala and is integrated into our FieldKit.

This is an interim stage on the way towards the final design.
